3 things I am grateful for since school re-open
2 things I would like to accomplish in 2008
1 thing I would like to see happening in my school which would help me to accomplish the above
Since school re-open, I noticed the changes that our school has had. There are colorful painted walls, new toilets doors and fans in the toilets. I am very grateful that this year, the seniors are able to sit in the gallery as the feeling compared to when I was Secondary one is very different. I felt that I have more responsibility to take on such as setting a good example to the juniors. Last year the teachers we got were not really fixed, we had many different teachers going within a year and our class had to adapt to the changes. So this year, I am thankful that most of the teachers we got are experienced and I am sure we can do well in our ‘O’ levels if we cooperate with them. As for CCA band, I am really satisfied that most members came back for practices as during the holiday they were either working or not interested to come. So after school re-opened, most members came back for practices and are getting ready for the upcoming performances. With the adequate number of people, things can work faster and smoother, lots of laughter and joy fills the band room.
2008 is a new year so there are new goals that I want to accomplish and the two main goals are doing well in my ‘O’ levels and getting into the course I want in polytechnic. I want to get As and Bs for most of my subjects. The another goal is I hope I can bring the band to a higher level in terms of their discipline and music level with the other leaders’ help as we may be going overseas for performances.
I hope the school can schedule a fixed timing that will suit most students during CCA day which is on Monday and Friday to allow them to come for practices so that the conductor would be able to teach us at the same time and we can practice as a band.

Some people like being alone; others are happiest when they are with a crowd of people. Which do you prefer?$BlogItemTitle$>
They are advantages and disadvantages if being alone and staying getting within a crowd of people. Most people would escape from loneliness as it is a very terrible feeling of being alone. Imagine yourself without any friends, how would life be? No one to through thick and thin with you.
In my opinion, I prefer to be with a crowd of people, especially with my closest friends. The most enjoyable times are when we can go out to catch a movie or cycling in a group. Spending time at the seaside with a group of friends, sharing about each other’s lives is also one of most enjoyable times. That brings all of us closer and builds the bond with one another. Having friends gives me the opportunity to express my inner most feelings or thoughts, which sometimes we cannot share our parents.
When we are in a group, we tend to create a lot of noise and it would attract attention. We will engage ourselves in conversation and when we hit an interesting topic, we should get so excited that we will laugh and talk loudly. Daring one another in a group will tend to lead us to commit wrong things
Some people choose to stay alone as they may have a phobia of being in a crowd due to bad experiences. Some may be born naturally and therefore cannot communicate with people. It is called autistics. When I am hurt or angry, I admit that I would run away from people and chose to be alone. Being alone calms me rather than venting my temper or my friends. However after some time, I come to realize that keeping things to myself rarely brings a solution. In the end, I would consult someone, a best friend, relative or parent to help me out of the mess which I put myself in.
After all, with al my reasons, I still prefer to spend my time in a crowd where we can share joy and laughter. One way or another, other people may choose to be alone as they enjoy better. Lives would me meaningful where we can share happiness and woe within one another.

Letter to Mdm Tan$BlogItemTitle$>
Dear Mdm Tan,
How have you been? It has been such a long time ever since we last saw one another. Time really flies, the holidays have passed in a flash and a new year has just begun. As you know this year is an important and crucial year for both me and my friends. In the next few months or so, it will be our O level papers. So my goal for this year is really to do well in it and ale to proceed on to a higher education.
With the O level exam starting this a week earlier this year, it showed me how busy and packed my schedule can be. The teachers have to conduct their lesson faster in order to complete the syllabus and revisions have to start earlier. After since school had started, staying back till five plus in the evening has been a routine for me. I am thankful that our school teachers had took the effort to conduct extra lessons and remedial for the secondary four and five as to get us started for 0-level than a last minute one where we start cramming all the noted into our mind.
The teachers are more experienced, they are more strict and serious towards our learning and attitudes. They want us to spend our time wisely and put in our best than to regret later after our results are out. More homework and test were given; I have to learn to manage my time properly between both my studies and band. It has been a great pleasure and fun to be in the band as playing instrument helps me to relieve stress and I really gain a lot through band. Band teaches me to be more discipline and knowing to manage my time properly as there are a lot of practices within a week.
Ever since school reopens, the time I spent with my friends has been limited. Most of the time, after remedial or CCA, all of us would be so tired and exhausted that we want to fly home straight away and have a pleasing rest instead of spending time together. Even when we have the time to spend together, we would use it by studying together as compared to the past; we would hang out together and enjoy ourselves.
I have learnt that organizing my time and planning my schedule ahead is important for me in order to manage well. These are some of the changes I had experienced after since school reopens in 2008. Hope to see you in near future. Write soon, I’d love to hear from you. Wishing you a Happy New Year.!
Take care and best regards,
Christina

First Day of School$BlogItemTitle$>
For weeks before school started, I had been getting everything ready such as my books, new shoes and my brand new uniform. I had been looking forward to my new secondary school as I find the school very unique compared to other schools. The school canteen is located on the third level while in other schools; it will be located on the first floor. The canteen is really big; it’s twice of my primary school. However as the day drew nearer, I began to get butterflies in my stomach. I felt nervous and excited at the same time. Lots of what ifs come across my mind. What if I am lost in school as it is so big? All this questions kept crowding my mind.
I barely slept in the night before school reopen. I tossed and turned in my bed, wondering what the next day would be like. I woke up before my parent called me and I got ready for school. My heart was pounding with fear. I reached school quite early because it was just a stone’s throw from my home. As I find my seat in the assembly hall, I looked around and I spotted some of my primary school friends. After the national anthem, the principal gave his welcoming speech and the school rules. We were told that we should be more independent as we are now in secondary school and it would be different from primary school.
After the speech, we were sent to our classes. When I was in my class, I discovered that my fears were unfounded. I soon made friends with my classmates, comparing my results with them and I sharing of our former schools. I began to relax to relax and feel that I would really gain a lot of great experience in this school.
While we were interacting with the new classmates, our form teacher entered the class and silence filled the air. Our form teacher was Mdm Wong and she looked quite strict so I knew we have to behave ourselves. She shared with us the goals and rules for our class. I was motivated by the goals and I told myself not to give up easily and continue to strive as one. Soon it was time for recess; the canteen was filled with people and voice. After that. The secondary one had to gather back to the hall as they were activities being planned for us by the council. We got to tour around the school and get to recognize some of the places. During the journey, I managed to know some classmates. We were engaged in the conversation where we shared about our primary school and results. Just as we were chatting, it was ice-breakers where we could get to understand one another better. I felt excited as I managed to know more interesting people. Then we started to practice our mass dance for the coming up camp. We were very into the dance and it bonds the class spirit together. I really got a great time there.
Time passed very fast and soon it was time to go home. The first day at school was over. As I walked out the gate with my new friends, I told myself that I have to cherish my time in school and do my best in everything.
As time go by. I am already Sec 4 and new batch of juniors are coming in. I believe the Secondary 1 will have a great experience in Kent Ridge Secondary School under the guidance of the teachers and the councilors.
